Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of using a trained certified mohel at home compared to a doctor in a hospital?

  • Experience: A mohel has extensive experience specifically in performing circumcisions.

  • Efficiency: The procedure typically takes 30-45 seconds, compared to the 15-45 minutes often required by doctors.

  • Comfort: The baby can be held by a loving relative instead of being strapped down to a hospital bed.

  • Environment: The setting is more warm, spiritual, and meaningful.

Is there any aftercare?
  • Yes. Rabbi Goldblatt implements various after-care methods, focusing on the safety and comfort of your son. After the circumcision, he will determine which method of after-care is most fitting for your son's particular needs.

What day does a Jewish bris occur?
  • Eighth Day: The Bris takes place on the eighth day of life, including the day of birth.

  • Health Considerations: If the baby is not in perfect health, the mohel may delay the Bris after consulting with a doctor to ensure the baby is healthy enough for the procedure.

  • Daytime Ceremony: A Jewish Bris can only be performed during daylight hours.

Will Rabbi Goldblatt travel to perform a circumcision if I live in a different city?
  • Travel Services: Absolutely. He is happy to travel to perform circumcisions. If necessary, he can help you find another mohel. Please contact him directly to discuss details in advance.

Can Rabbi Goldblatt perform a circumcision if I choose not to give my son Vitamin K either orally or by injection?
  • Parental Choice: Yes. Based on extensive research and collaboration with other mohelim, the decision regarding Vitamin K is left to the parents. Rabbi Goldblatt is confident that, by the eighth day or later, there will be no concern due to his specialized method of controlling and stopping any bleeding within moments.
